eCandidat is the application portal specific to each French university. At the University of Le Havre Normandie, it is used to apply for L2, L3, professional bachelor’s, or M2 programs, meaning for all courses that are not part of Parcoursup or Mon Master. Each institution manages its own instance: an account created at another university does not work in Le Havre.
eCandidat Le Havre Calendar: Submission Window and Overlaps
Most online guides detail the clicks to be made on the platform but overlook the main constraint: the calendar. For the 2026 academic year, universities set their eCandidat campaigns within a window concentrated between February and June, aligned with the Parcoursup and Mon Master phases.
Specifically, the eCandidat campaigns at the University of Le Havre Normandie generally open between February and April for L2, L3, professional bachelor’s, and M2 programs. The submission deadlines often occur before the end of May, so that the educational committees can make their decisions before the administrative registrations in July.
This overlap between three platforms (Parcoursup, Mon Master, eCandidat) requires monitoring several calendars simultaneously. Missing the eCandidat deadline because one was focused on Parcoursup is a common scenario. Therefore, before completing any form, the first step is to check the exact dates of the campaign on the university’s official page, as they vary from one program to another.
A complete application submitted via the registration on eCandidat Le Havre Normandie must meet these deadlines to be reviewed by the relevant committee.

Creating an eCandidat Account and Email Validation
Each year, the University of Le Havre Normandie resets accounts. An account created the previous year is no longer valid: a new one must be created for each campaign, even if the targeted program is the same.
The creation process goes through the university’s dedicated portal. Three pieces of information are requested right from the start: last name, first name, and email address. After validating the form, an email containing the login credentials and an activation link is sent. As long as this link has not been clicked, the account remains inactive and the application cannot progress.
Common Errors at This Stage
- Using an email address that is rarely checked, which delays retrieving the credentials (the activation email may also end up in the spam folder).
- Forgetting to note the identifier sent by email: the platform does not display it again during subsequent logins, so it must be kept from the moment of receipt.
- Attempting to reuse an old account instead of creating a new one, which blocks access without an explicit error message.
Once the account is activated, logging in with the credentials received by email gives access to the candidate’s dashboard.
Filling Out the Candidate File: INE, Curriculum, and Supporting Documents
The file is filled out in several successive tabs. The first concerns civil status and nationality. The second asks for the INE number (National Student Identifier), which is found on the high school diploma transcripts or on the student card.
The “external curriculum” tab often causes problems. If the home institution does not appear in the dropdown menu provided by the platform, the university requests that an email be sent to the academic services ([email protected] for IUT applications). Not reporting this absence blocks the progress of the form without a clear explanation.
Supporting Documents: Formats and Special Cases
Each program defines its own list of required documents. Submission is done online, document by document, via a dedicated button next to each requested document. All files must comply with the required format (usually PDF), or they will be silently rejected.
A point often overlooked: some supporting documents do not apply to all candidates. The platform provides a specific button to indicate that a document does not apply to your situation. Leaving the line blank without clicking this button results in a technically incomplete file, even if the document was not required for your profile.

Submitting the File and Following Up with the Educational Committee
Completing the tabs is not enough. The application must be explicitly submitted via a confirmation button. Without this submission, the file remains in draft and is never reviewed by the committee. This step generates a summary to keep.
Once submitted, the file goes to the educational committee specific to each program. Three outcomes are possible:
- Favorable opinion: the candidate is accepted and can proceed with administrative registration, usually starting in July.
- Favorable opinion with conditions: admission is contingent upon obtaining a diploma or providing additional documentation.
- Unfavorable opinion: the candidate is not selected. The committee’s decision is final, and the UFR does not respond to any appeals made via messaging.
Tracking the file is done directly from the eCandidat dashboard. Notifications also arrive by email, hence the importance of the address provided during account creation.
A validated application on eCandidat does not equate to registration. Administrative registration, with payment of university fees, is a separate process that occurs after a favorable opinion and according to a schedule specific to the university. Confusing the two remains one of the most common mistakes among first-time applicants.
